Rumor: iPad 3 Coming In March, Brings Quad-Core CPU And LTE

This year, we are expecting debut of the third generation of Apple tablets and the release date of the new is already anticipated. According to a Japanese blogger quoted by MacRumors, the launch event was scheduled for March, the same month iPad 2 was launched. Like every year the rumors about new Apple products have started to hid the web and this time the iPad 3 made the headlines. Well, today we are talking about some leaked Apple iPad 3 iBoot screenshots. A source quoted by BGR claims it 8217;s in the possession of the prototype of the new Apple tablet and they even posted some iBoot screenshots to prove it. iBoot is a developing and debugging software for the Apple iOS platform. We told you a few weeks ago that an iPad 3 tablet featuring quad-core processor and LTE chip is already on the assembly line and now it seems that BGR has the first proof of the existence of this Apple device. The photos reveal that the mysterious Apple tablet features an A6 chipset with a quad-core processor, codenamed S5L8945X. The codename for iPad 2 8242;s and iPhone 4S 8217; CPU was S5L8940X. The photos suggest that Apple would launch an iPad 3 tablet that comes with WiFi support and another one compatible both with GSM and CDMA networks, thus we won 8217;t see three versions of the product hitting the market. Summing up, the pictures below show that iPad 3 is a quad-core terminal that comes with support for GSM/CDMA networks and LTE chip. As about the quad-core CPU used by Apple, iPad 3 is based on Apple A6, model name S5L8945X. This CPU comes to complete the A5 (S5L8940X) and A4 (S5L8930X) series and I can 8217;t wait to see the benchmark scores and how it will be able to cope with the rivals. Even tough early rumors said that the iPad 3 will be thicker than its successor, the latest leaked details show that it comes with a thinner body and impressive technical specifications that complete the performance of the Apple A6 quad-core chipset. The display will also be upgraded to HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels or even bigger). Unfortunately it wasn 8217;t mentioned anything about Retina Display or an upgraded camera. The same source says that the new tablet is incredibly fast, the fastest iOS device ever crated, but the leaked details stop here. I am curious to see Apple 8217;s reaction after this massive information leakage, of course if anything of this is true. This might just be a prank or just a confirmation of the rumors Digitimes launched several weeks ago. The current Apple tablet offers a display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels which was already beaten by high-end smartphones like Galaxy Nexus or Sony Xperia S. The 4G / LTE support is one of the premieres introduced by iPad 3. Least but not last, iPad 3 might also receive a bigger battery, alleged to come with twice the autonomy of the iPad 2 8242;s battery.
